Network & Security Consultant​

Location

Remote, with some travel to customer sites and our offices in Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire when required. 

Hours

37.5 hours per week.


Salary

£65,000 - £75,000.

What you will do

  • Post sales technical delivery of projects, from design to implementation across a broad range of technologies.

  • Consultative support of solutions based on individual and role-based skill set.

  • Pre-Sales Technical Scoping to support architects and sales teams – high level design and develop solutions against qualified customer requirements. Produce proposals and statements of work with sales teams and architects.

  • Ability to relate technology concepts to business benefits and articulate these to potential customers.

  • Technical Subject Matter expert for aligned product set – refer to core knowledge section.

  • Maintain a broad understanding of competitive products to the individual’s specialisation, an understanding of their architectural principles and, where appropriate, design skills and accreditations in these products

  • Supporting the development of HybrIT service portfolio in line with go to market strategies which can entail working alongside Solution Architecture in developing and delivering service offerings based on industry best practice and “new to market” technologies.

  • Support and develop relationships with vendors relevant to the individual’s role such as product teams in vendors.

  • Work with managed services teams to develop service operating models.

  • Support for other practices – cross deliver utilising skills such as EUC, UC, DC to deliver a complete solution.

  • To obtain and maintain technical accreditations as required by management in accordance with the guidelines provided by manufacturers and software vendors.

  • Provide technical mentorship and escalation for Managed services aligned to skillset.

What we need from you

Essential up to 4th line network and security knowledge.

  • Strong knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 routing & switching environments, including overlay technologies such as Fabric and SDN.

  • Practical experience with SASE/Zero Trust Security architecture and deployments.

  • Practical Experience with NAC solutions and 802.1x deployments.

  • Practical experience with front end security and network solutions (GLB/LLB/WAF).

  • In depth knowledge of interior and exterior routing protocols, OSPF and BGP required.

  • Familiarity with RIPE processes and ASN management.

  • Experience with ISP routing products such as Cisco ASR/Mikrotik.

  • Core Data centre platform (Servers & Storage) knowledge.

  • Experience of working in dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 redundant datacentre network infrastructure.

  • Experience of wireless network solutions, particularly from Extreme/Aerohive, Cisco Meraki and survey tooling (AirMagent/Ekahau).

  • Experience of working with packet capture toolsets and packet level debugging.

  • Practical, demonstratable in-depth troubleshooting experience.

  • Systems Monitoring suite experience (preferably PRTG).

  • Experience of deploying, managing, and analysing NetFlow results from critical infrastructure.

  • Azure and AWS Networking technologies and deployments.

  • Demonstratable in depth knowledge of FortiGate firewall policies including UTM features with web filtering, application control, IPS/IDS signatures – including FortiManager and FortiAnlayzer.

  • Experience of developing python and PowerShell code for process automation.

  • ITSM tool aligned with ITIL processes (full ticket lifecycle management experience).

  • Knowledge of ITIL and service desk process (incident, change, problem, release).


Technical Certifications

Consultants should be working towards or have attained some of the certifications below:

  • Cisco Certification Track - CCNP minimum or equivalent (Extreme/Juniper).

  • Vendor certification from FortiNet, Extreme, Microsoft are a distinct advantage.

  • It would be expected that if not already obtained – these would be achieved within the first 6 months of employment.
