Your network backbone remains crucial

Going beyond the traditional view of LAN, your network backbone needs to support an ever growing demand for increased performance and throughput for end users and systems. HybrIT help you achieve a modern network.

From design to future vision

When designing a new IT network, whether for five people or 500, it's important to understand who will be using the network and where demand will come from. Some important things to consider that may not be on anyone's wish list include balancing security issues with the desire for easy access to information; physical redundancy into the network in anticipation of failure; and standardising hardware and software to keep ongoing support costs under control. In case of operational downtime, a disaster recovery plan should be in place. Also, expansion of users & devices and general growth should be planned into a long-term network strategy.

Connectivity and security

Network connectivity today is more than just network cables and wireless access points. Users are more connected while mobile than ever before and many of them want access to company email and data whilst on the move. Balancing those needs while maintaining security is a challenge that needs to be addressed in the design phase of any network.

This includes where data is stored, either in-house or offsite with cloud-based solutions, what types of information should be accessible, who should be able to access it, and which types of devices should be included. Firewalls and access servers need to be secure without slowing down operations. Whilst all of these things may seem to fall outside of a traditional “what switches to we need?” discussion, it’s imperative to consider the wider picture for every organisation as their individual needs will be very different.

Future growth of the organisation

While it is not always possible to anticipate how large an organisation may be in 3, 5 or more years, allowances for future growth must be built into the network design. For example, entry level network switches may seem the right choice for many small organisations. However, if your staff and device count are growing, the Network design should factor a percentage of growth per year, including everything from quantity of switch ports, throughput, performance and redundancy.
